This project was delivered in a 4 day rail shut down in May 2013. The existing bridge was removed and a foundation layer of fine crushed rock placed beneath a 200 thick mass concrete slab. The precast box culvert sections weighing 18 tonnes were then placed by our 50 tonne crawler crane. Precast wing walls were installed and track formation reinstated.
We then replaced the track on new concrete sleepers and handed back the line for traffic with 12 hours to spare.
Apron slabs and rip rap scour protection were installed in the ensuing week.
