This project was delivered in a 4 day rail shut down in November 2012. The existing bridge was removed and a foundation layer of fine crushed rock placed beneath a 200 thick mass concrete slab. The precast box culvert sections weighing 18 tonnes were then placed by an 80 tonne crawler crane. An existing brick abutment was retained and new Precast wing walls were installed at the other abutment and track formation reinstated.
We then replaced the track on new concrete sleepers and handed back the line for traffic Apron slabs and rip rap scour protection were installed in the ensuing weeks.
