Muswellbrook Signal Hut Demolition
Client
Australian Rail Track Coorporation
Location
Muswellbrook, NSW
Project
In 2007 ARTC consolidated the remaining train control operations on the interstate lines and regional lines in country NSW. This resulted in over 30 signal boxes in regional NSW being closed.
A Statement of Heritage Impact report was prepared and concluded that the signal box at the Muswellbrook train station could be removed. It identified that items of movable heritage from within the signal box will need to be retained in an appropriate location.
Approval for the demolition was granted under Section 60 of the NSW Heritage Act.
ARTC awarded the Demolition works to Bridge and Civil in March 2019.
Two Major possessions were used to complete the project April and May 2019. All Asbestos and related hazardous materials removed in the April possession, the remainder of the structure demolished in the May possession.
All works were delivered on time, without incident.
