This project was delivered in a 4 day rail shut down in May 2012. The existing bridge was removed and a foundation layer of ballast placed beneath a 200 thick mass concrete slab. The precast box culvert sections weighing 23 tonnes were then placed by a 200 tonne mobile crane. The existing brick wing walls were retained.
The site was a flowing creek, requiring stream diversion and pumping with stringent environmental controls.
We then replaced the track on new concrete sleepers and handed back the line for traffic.
Apron slabs and rip rap scour protection were installed in the ensuing weeks.
